Veterans Day Celebration

Tuesday, November 10, 2026 at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PMCentral Standard Time UTC -06:00

Join Metro for our Veterans Day Celebration on Tuesday, November 10 in New Main Great Hall!

We will have a film screening of "The War After" from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The film interviews Veterans about why they joined the military, what their service was actually like, and the challenges of transitioning out of the military. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about military service, better understand the Veterans and current servicemembers in your life, on our campus, and in our community, and reflect on ways we can always help ease the transition and better support them.

From 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, we will transition to lunch, a speaker, and a discussion. Mohammad Zafar is a Veteran, Metro State Alum, and a current staff member in the Counseling Department. Mohammad will discuss the intersections between physical health and mental health, as well as current developments for Veterans. There will be time for a discussion following this.

All students, staff, faculty, and community members are welcome! We also encourage family members of current and former servicemembers to attend to be honored with the service and sacrifices they make alongside the servicemembers.

We look forward to seeing you there and honoring our military community!
